SIMBAD: Annotations

Best practices for SIMBAD annotations

Annotations on objects in SIMBAD are intended to facilitate some scientific discussions, or to flag a real error that should be corrected. Annotations are not intended for requests to add missing names or data source by source.

It is not intended either to ask us to add data from a paper which could be in the pipeline and not processed yet (please refer to the CDS Status on the web page of the concerned paper in SIMBAD: http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-fref

In order to use this feature, you will need to register as a user of CDS services. Detailed instructions are available here : http://cdsannotations.u-strasbg.fr/annotations/doc/quickstart.html
(Note that the registration will provide access to more CDS features.)

It is not intended to supersede email support, but to improve the quality of SIMBAD contents and the level of interaction between CDS staff and SIMBAD users.
