On the stochastic gravitational radiation background produced by an ensemble of single neutron stars.

POSTNOV K.A. and PROKHOROV M.E.

Abstract (from CDS):

The possible stochastic background produced by single galactic neutron star is studied. The upper limit to this background independent of the NS ellipticities is derived. If ∼0.1 of old neutron star population have a low surface magnetic field (<107G; from the beginning or due to field decay), this background may be detected by the advanced LIGO/VIRGO interferometers with a sensitivity of ∼10–25 at 100Hz during 1-year integration.
