Abstract (from CDS):

We analyzed the intensity distribution of the 3/4keV and 1/4keV diffuse soft X-ray background by correlating the ROSAT all-sky survey with the Leiden/Dwingeloo HI survey. We found that the 3/4keV and 1/4keV intensity distributions can be modelled by a contribution from an isothermal (kT=0.135keV) flattened X-ray halo superposed on the radiation from an extragalactic X-ray background. The exponential scale height of the X-ray halo is about 4.4kpc and its radial scale length is about 15kpc; the X-ray halo luminosity, LX, is about 7x1039erg/s.
