SIMBAD references

M. Stritzinger, Oskar Klein Centre, Stockholm University; and R. J. Foley, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, on behalf of the Millennium Center for Supernova Science, report that they have obtained a spectrum (range 360-965 nm) of 2011hp on Nov. 4.2 UT with the Gemini South telescope (+ GMOS). The variable appears to be a type-Ic supernova around maximum light. The Si II 635.5-nm feature is relatively strong for a type-Ic supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) provides reasonable matches with SN 1999ex at five days prior to maximum brightness and to SN 1994I at two days past maximum brightness.
