Supernova 2012bg.

MAGILL L., WRIGHT D., KOTAK R. and LEDO H.

Abstract (from CDS):

L. Magill, D. Wright, and R. Kotak, Queen's University, Belfast, report that optical spectroscopy (range 360-1000 nm) of 2012bg was obtained at the Isaac Newton Telescope (+ IDS) by H. Ledo on Mar. 15.25 UT and was cross-correlated with a library of supernova spectra using the SNID software (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), showing 2012bg to be a type-II supernova. The best fit was with the type-IIP supernova 2004et at an epoch of 15-20 days. Fitting with SNID yields a redshift of 0.033. The H_alpha feature displays a broad P-Cyg profile, having a FWHM of 6000 km/s, with a narrow feature (FWHM = 600 km/s) superimposed on the red side of the broad emission component. This narrow feature is centered at the redshift of the host galaxy.
