The spectroscopic binary HD 23642 and the distance of the Pleiades.

GIANNUZZI M.A.

Abstract (from CDS):

HD 23642 is a double-lined spectroscopic binary in the Pleiades for which orbital elements and photometric data of good quality are available. Putting, by trial and error, the individual components on the cluster isochrone so that the colour index of the couple is the same as the observed one, the comparison between the absolute and the apparent magnitude furnishes the distance modulus. If the age t=1.5x108yr is assumed one has V0-MV=5.61±0.26; for t=3.0x108yr one obtains V0-MV=5.80±0.24.
