IRAS low resolution spectra with β Pictoris-type silicate emission.

FAJARDO-ACOSTA S.B. and KNACKE R.F.

Abstract (from CDS):

We present a list of 88 IRAS low resolution spectra that exhibit 10µm silicate emission features similar to the one in the spectrum of β Pictoris. Unlike the majority of LRS silicate emission spectra, which show a relatively narrow, single peak at ∼10µm, the ones in the present list show a wide feature, with two peaks at 9 and 11µm. The spectral characteristics indicate the emission originates from oxygen-rich circumstellar dust. Many of the sources have no known associations; those that do are typically low mass asymptotic giant branch Miras or massive supergiants. The sources show a preferential distribution towards the galactic center.
