Abstract (from CDS):

We present new observations of the LP 261-75/2MASSW J09510549+3558021 M4.5/L6 wide, common-proper-motion binary system. Optical spectroscopy of LP 261-75 shows strong Hα emission, and the star may also be associated with the ROSAT FSC source 1RXS J095102.7+355824. The derived chromospheric and coronal activity levels are consistent with those of Pleiades stars of the same spectral type, and we infer an age of 100-200 Myr for the system. In that case, theoretical models suggest that the L6 dwarf 2MASSW J09510549+3558021 is a low-mass brown dwarf, with M∼0.02+0.01–0.005M.
