Offset ---------------------------------------------------------------------------— 2009cy Mar. 18.20 9 40 55.44 + 1 16 08.3 17.2 2".7 W, 3".4 N ---------------------------------------------------------------------------—
Further CSS magnitudes for 2009cy: Jan. 17.53 UT, [20.0; Feb. 2.31, 17.0; 14.42, 16.9; 19.27, 17.1; Mar. 31.22, 17.3. The apparent host galaxy, SDSS J094055.62+011604.9, has Gunn magnitudes u = 21.5, g = 20.6, r = 20.3, i = 20.2, and z = 19.8. A confirming spectrogram (range 380-900 nm) was taken with the SMARTS 1.5-m telescope on Mar. 26; with the aid of the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024), 2009cy is found to be a type-IIP supernova, its spectrum similar to that of SN 2006bp.
