Further to CBET 2048, E. Christensen, Gemini Observatory; A. J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, A. Mahabal, M. J. Graham, and R. Williams, California Institute of Technology; M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; and E. C. Beshore and S. M. Larson, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona, report the CRTS discovery of three supernovae in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images. Confirmation spectra were obtained using the Gemini North and South 8-m telescopes.

SN 2009lz was observed on Nov. 9.02 UT; cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) showed 2009lz to be a type-IIp supernova most similar to SN 2006bp at seven days past maximum light with redshift z = 0.05. 2009lz has evidence for a faint, uncatalogued host galaxy in Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) images. Additional CSS magnitudes for 2009lz: Sept. 10.45, [20.1; Oct. 10.19, 19.0. SN 2009ma was observed on Nov. 8.36 and exhibits the strong narrow Balmer lines of a type-IIn supernova at z = 0.089. SN 2009ma has no host galaxy visible in Digitized Sky Survey, Palomar Quest, and SDSS images; additional CSS magnitudes for 2009ma: Apr. 20.13, [20.5; Nov. 21.51, 18.7. SN 2009mb was observed on Nov. 16.64 and found to exhibit strong Balmar lines, clearly showing it to be a type-IIn supernova at redshift z = 0.154. The host galaxy of 2009mb is seen in SDSS images and has Gunn magnitudes u = 24.0, g = 22.8, r = 21.7, i = 21.5, z = 21.2; additional CSS magnitudes for 2009mb: May 26.17, [20.2; Oct. 24.50, 19.1.
