A new hard X-ray transient discovered by INTEGRAL: IGR J17361-4441.
GIBAUD L., BAZZANO A., BOZZO E., CADOLLE-BEL M., CAPITANIO F., DEL SANTO M., DEN HARTOG P.R., FERRIGNO C., KREYKENBOHM I., PAIZIS A., PUEHLHOFER G., RODRIGUEZ J., SANCHEZ K. and WATANABE C.
Abstract (from CDS):
The source is detected in the IBIS/ISGRI mosaic at a preliminary significance level of 8 in the 20-40 keV energy band. The corresponding flux is 7±1 mCrab (68% c.l., only statistical).
The best determined source position is at RA=264.046; DEC=-44.689 (J2000)
with a 90% confinement radius of 3 arcmin. Within the error box, we notice the presence of the globular cluster NGC 6388.
The IBIS/ISGRI spectrum (exposure time 162 ks) can be well described (kh2red/d.o.f.=0.7/9)
by a a power-law with photon index G=2.6+1.0-0.7 (90% c.l.). The 20-100 keV flux estimated from the spectral fit is ∼9.7e-11 erg/s/cm2.
Unfortunately, IGR J17361-4441 was located out of the JEM-X field of view.
Follow-up observations are encouraged to unveil the nature of this transient.
