Bufano, Universidad Andres Bello; M. T. Botticella, A. Grado, and L. Limatola, Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte, INAF; M. Vaccari, University of the Western Cape, South Africa; and M. Capaccioli, G. Covone, and M. Paolillo, Universita Federico II, Napoli, on behalf of the SUDARE/VOICE collaboration (cf. CBET 3236), report the discovery of four supernovae on r-band images taken during their supernova search program with the European Southern Observatory (ESO) VLT Survey Telescope (+ Omegacam).

A spectrogram of 2012fn, obtained on Oct. 22.10 UT with the ESO Very Large Telescope Antu (+ FORS2; range 370-920 nm, resolution 10 nm), shows the typical features of a type-Ic supernova. Adopting a redshift z = 0.284, as measured from a number of narrow lines of the host galaxy, the best fit with the GELATO tool (Harutyuyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) with a library of supernova spectra is with SN 2004aw (Taubenberger et al. 2006, MNRAS 371, 1459) a few days after maximum.

A spectrogram of 2012fo, obtained on Oct. 22.23 as above, shows that the object is a type-II supernova. Adopting a redshift z = 0.238, as measured from a number of narrow lines of the host galaxy, the best fit with the GELATO tool is with SN 1993J (Barbon et al. 1995, A.Ap. Suppl. 110, 513) near maximum.

A spectrogram of 2012fp was obtained on Oct. 22.34, as above. The spectrum shows a very blue, featureless continuum reminiscent of early type-IIn supernovae. Adopting a redshift z = 0.644, as measured from a number of narrow lines of the host galaxy, the continuum temperature is about 16000 K.

A spectrogram of 2012fq, obtained on Oct. 22.18, as above (but range 600-1000 nm, resolution 10 nm), shows that the object is a type-Ia supernova. Adopting a redshift z = 0.67, as measured from a number of narrow lines of the host galaxy, the best fit with the GELATO tool is with type-Ia supernovae near maximum.
