Supernova 2005ci in NGC 5682.

MODJAZ M., KIRSHNER R., CHALLIS P. and CALKINS M.

Abstract (from CDS):

M. Modjaz, R. Kirshner, and P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that a spectrogram (range 340-740 nm) of SN 2005ci (cf. IAUC 8541), obtained by M. Calkins on June 12.34 UT with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be a type-II supernova. The spectrum consists of a flat continuum and P-Cyg lines of H_alpha and H_beta. Adopting the NED recession velocity of 2291 km/s for the host galaxy (from Falco et al. 1999, PASP 111, 438), the expansion velocity derived from the minimum of the H_beta line is about 13000 km/s.
