Abstract (from CDS):

J.-U. Ness and S. Starrfield, Arizona State University; G. Schwarz and K. Vanlandingham, West Chester University; J. Osborne and K. L. Page, University of Leicester; C. E. Woodward, University of Minnesota; M. F. Bode, Liverpool John Moores University; J. Krautter, University of Heidelberg; and R. J. Rudy, Aerospace Corporation, report that V2362 Cyg was observed in x-rays via Swift on Nov. 21 with a count rate of (12 ± 1) x 10**(-3) counts per second. This is a factor of 1.6 ± 0.5 (68.3-percent uncertainty) higher than on Oct. 14 (cf. CBET 696). The x-ray spectrum is significantly harder than that of a supersoft x-ray source. Combining the two Swift XRT observations, an x-ray luminosity of 8 x 10**(31) d**2 erg/s (where d is the distance in kpc) is derived from a spectral fit to an optically thin plasma model of temperature kT = 3.7(+6.6/-0.6) keV. The optical light curve has had a long-lasting re-brightening phase that started in July 2006 (CBET 671). The brightness increase in the optical between the two Swift observations was 1 magnitude, equivalent to an increase in flux by a factor 2.5. V2362 Cyg has been observed a third time in x-rays with Swift on Dec. 20 with a count rate of (2.1 ± 0.3) x 10**(-2) counts per second. In the optical, V2362 Cyg has rapidly declined (CBET 775), but in x-rays this is nova is slowly becoming brighter.
